A change in the leg

Last October, my son, Alan, noticed a small lump on his left calf. At first, it didn’t cause much concern, but over time, he began to complain more and more often of fatigue and a lack of energy. As a parent, I sensed that something was wrong.

During the visit, the doctor ordered a series of tests. Each subsequent step raised more questions than it answered. In the end, a biopsy of the lesion on Alan’s leg proved necessary.

The moment of diagnosis

The diagnosis came quickly: chondrosarcoma.

I remember that moment as if it were yesterday. Two words were enough to bring our world to a standstill. Fear, helplessness, and a thousand questions flooded my mind in an instant. From that day on, nothing was ever the same again.

Treatment and surgery

After hearing the diagnosis, everything happened very quickly. The doctors didn’t waste a moment. They immediately began the fight to save Alan’s life. There was chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Every day brought new challenges, pain, and fatigue, but my son bravely endured the treatment, fighting the disease with tremendous strength.

On April 28 of this year, Alan underwent surgery to remove a tumor. It was another important step on this difficult journey.

Family

Alan’s dad is a huge support to us and actively helps care for our son. Thanks to him, it’s easier for us to face the challenges that his illness has brought. Together, we’re doing everything we can so that Alan can focus on what matters most: getting well.

Soccer

Before his illness, Alan was full of energy. It was hard to keep him still. He loved being active, playing sports, and spent every spare moment on the move. His greatest passion was soccer. He could run after the ball for hours, train, and dream about upcoming matches. The field was his second home, a place where he felt happy and free.

Rehabilitation and follow-up visits

Today, Alan needs regular physical therapy and frequent trips to Warsaw for follow-up exams. It’s about a 4-hour drive one way from our town. Every step he takes brings him closer to regaining his mobility, but it also comes with ever-increasing costs.

We sincerely ask for your support. Every bit of help gives Alan a chance to recover, to have a normal childhood, and to return to the soccer he loves.

Thank you for all your kindness, kind words, and gestures of support.
