Explore the history of
It's taking longer than anticipated.
The first lump in her breast appeared in July 2020. Despite a quick response and immediate treatment, the disease did not end with the first stages of therapy.
In 2023, it was necessary to remove retroperitoneal nodes in which cancer cells were found. Over time , metastases appeared in the cervical nodes. Despite treatment , they remain resistant to therapy and are gradually enlarging .
Pain has become part of everyday life
The enlarging nodes are accompanied by severe pain, and with it, growing fear and uncertainty. About three months ago, a fistula appeared that requires constant treatment. The amount of medical supplies needed is enormous, and despite reimbursement, their cost remains high. The cancer that Elżbieta is facing is an opponent that requires long and intensive treatment.
Treatment and its consequences
Elżbieta underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy again, with check-ups every three months.
Many years of treatment have significantly weakened her body, which requires constant regeneration and supportive treatment.
Complications include thrombocytopenia, polyneuropathy, and tachycardia. Trigeminal nerve palsy, resulting from radiotherapy and enlarging cervical nodes, causes constant, difficult-to-control pain.
Daily life in the shadow of illness
Due to her deteriorating health, Elżbieta has been unable to work for about a year. For a long time, her savings provided her with a sense of relative security, but today they are exhausted.
Financial instability and rising healthcare costs are becoming a source of constant tension. In addition to concerns about health, there is anxiety about the future and how to ensure the safety of the home where their daughter is growing up.
The disease affects the whole family, who remain close despite the difficulties. Elżbieta's husband and daughter are her daily support and strength, helping her get through the various stages of treatment.
Living in uncertainty
Her everyday life is marked by uncertainty. Pain, successive stages of therapy, and rising treatment costs that exceed the family's financial capabilities create a reality that requires constant strength. Support during this time can be a huge help and relief, allowing her to focus on treatment and regaining her strength.
