"I thought that nightmare was behind me. Now it's back, and everything has fallen apart again."
The onset of the disease

The first symptoms appeared as early as 2013. Seemingly harmless signs turned out to be a harbinger of a disease that quickly dominated the entire life of Ewa and her family. The diagnosis was clear: malignant adenocarcinoma of the hard palate.

From that moment on, everyday life ceased to be predictable. Fear, pain, and the need to make decisions that Ewa had no time to prepare for appeared .

Operations

On March 21, 2014, the first reconstructive surgery involving a hand flap transplant was performed in Gliwice . The procedure was unsuccessful due to vascular thrombosis. A few days later, on March 31, another, even more demanding surgery was necessary, this time involving a transplant from the other hand.

It was the beginning of a long road to recovery, filled with pain, uncertainty, and further medical interventions that left a lasting mark on Ewa's health.

Radiotherapy and living with the consequences

After the surgeries, Ewa underwent 38 radiotherapy sessions. The treatment led to the formation of a fistula in her palate, which prevented her from eating. On August 28, 2015, it was necessary to close the fistula and perform another flap correction.

Although the treatment was over, its effects remained. Speech difficulties became part of everyday life, and every word spoken required effort and concentration. The disease robbed Ewa of her freedom of communication and sense of normality.

Recurrence of the disease after many years

After eleven years, the cancer returned. The same diagnosis, the same fear, and the awareness that without another very expensive operation, the situation would worsen. Ewa was once again faced with treatment that was beyond her family's financial means.

"I don't have the strength to go through this alone anymore. I'm afraid we won't make it this time."
A family that carries this burden together

The illness affected not only Ewa, but her entire family for the second time. It is particularly difficult for her daughter, who also struggles with fear and helplessness in the face of the situation they are facing once again, yet she supports her mother every day and stands by her in this uneven fight. This support is invaluable, but the emotional burden that has fallen on her loved ones is enormous and ever-present.

Everyday life full of restrictions

Ewa does not work. Speech problems and her health condition prevent her from working. Her husband, who has been her greatest support for years, provides for the family , although he himself is extremely tired of this struggle. The illness has exhausted them not only physically, but also mentally.

The simplest activities, such as talking and interacting with people, have become a source of frustration and pain. The only respite she has is caring for her beloved dogs, who give Ewa a semblance of peace.

Urgent help needed

The fundraiser was set up to enable Ewa to undergo the necessary, expensive surgery after her cancer returned.

The family has only one month to raise PLN 88,000, without which treatment will not be possible.

This is the only chance to stop the disease and regain at least some of your mobility, voice, and dignity. The return of cancer after many years is a second blow that cannot be borne alone.

Your support can ensure that Ewa and her loved ones are not left alone to face the disease that is once again trying to take away their future.
