Update

Those were months of intensive treatment and serious complications
Starting in September, Jacek received further doses of chemotherapy and steroids, in accordance with his treatment plan. He finished chemotherapy in February 2026. The treatment was not without complications. They have appeared painful sores in the mouth and rashes all over the body. For a while, Jacek was unable to eat, so he had to be fed intravenously. Because of severe pain, he was given morphine for four days. He spent more than two months in isolation, under strict sanitary protocols, without being able to leave his hospital room.
A symbolic moment marking a return to everyday life
Jacek and his mom now visit Cape of Hope once a month for follow-up exams. 1On April 5, Broviac was removed. This marked the symbolic end of the most intensive phase of his treatment and signaled that the hardest part of his journey was now behind him. Jack has several more years of regular checkups ahead of him.

Thank you for your support, prayers, and kind thoughts for Jacek and his family. April 16, 2026

Toothache triggered avalanche

Toothache, an ailment so common and ordinary that usually ends with a quick treatment. In Jack's case, too, no one expected a different turn of events, much less that it would become the starting point for - an experience that most of us are familiar with and that usually ends in a quick treatment.

Ten days after diagnosis - LP, imaging studies and chemotherapy.

No one imagined that this is where the road to a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia would begin. Initially, everything went well, but despite the completed treatment, the pain did not subside.

With time, more complaints appeared: facial swelling, fever, bleeding gums. The parents could not wait - a consultation was necessary. The doctor diagnosed pharyngitis, but the treatment undertaken did not bring improvement. On the contrary - Jack's condition worsened day by day. After two days with no hope of improvement, the boy was hospitalized. The first suspicion - sepsis. Immediate blood tests were ordered. In the morning a decision was made - the 14-year-old should be immediately transported to the "Cape of Hope"."

Rapid diagnosis

Like a snowball, emotions and fear were mounting about what Jack's stay in the clinic really meant. On September 12 came the answer in the form of a diagnosis that in an instant rearranged the life of the boy and his loved ones: acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Treatment

It took only 10 days from diagnosis to implementation of the treatment plan, during which time an LP and imaging studies were performed. On September 22, Jacek started the first cycle of chemotherapy in combination with steroid drugs. Everything is now subordinated to the therapy to give him a chance to beat the disease.

A family in tears

Mom continues day and night by Jack's side in the hospital. Dad stayed at home to take care of his four siblings. Everyone is going through this situation very hard. There are many conversations, questions and tears, but also a great deal of support coming from relatives and friends, who are trying to give strength to the family during this difficult time.

A boy with a passion

Jacek is 14 years old. Before his illness kept him in a hospital bed, his world revolved around soccer and computer games. These were the passions that gave him joy and allowed him to live an ordinary youthful life, which he now dreams most of returning to.
Funds from the collection will be used for rehabilitation, treatment and transportation to support Jack on his long and incredibly difficult road to recovery.

What we offer today can save childhood from the stigma of suffering and restore the colors of carefree childhood.
