The procedure is scheduled for February 4.

"The first week after chemotherapy is the worst. It's really bad. I'm so weak that I need help, and I live alone."
Onset of illness
Jadwiga's medical history began in January 2021, when she was first diagnosed with cervical cancer. At that time, the treatment was surgical and did not require further adjuvant therapy. There was cautious hope that this chapter would be closed and that she would gradually return to her normal life.
However, this hope was brutally shattered. In 2023, the disease returned, forcing him to undergo radical treatment, which once again subordinated his daily life to medical procedures and hospital visits.
Treatment and subsequent relapses
The intensity of the cancer treatment proved to be an enormous strain on the body, which already remembered previous treatment. Twenty-eight radiation sessions, four cycles of chemotherapy, and three brachytherapy treatments left a lasting mark, weakening the body and exhausting its strength.
In 2025, more difficult news arrived. The disease had returned, this time with suspected metastasis to the lungs. A medical consultation qualified Jadwiga for chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy as part of the Drug Program. This is currently the only available way to stop the progression of the disease.
Next steps in treatment
The first cycle of chemotherapy with immunotherapy took place on January 21, 2026. The treatment plan includes six cycles. Already after the first one, severe weakness appeared, which persists for many days and significantly limits daily functioning. Before the next stages of therapy, it was also necessary to relieve pressure on the kidney and make frequent check-ups.
Each subsequent cycle means a time when Jadwiga struggles to get out of bed. Her body reacts with extreme exhaustion, and even the simplest tasks require the help of another person.
Loneliness and everyday life
Jadwiga lives alone on the third floor. After treatment, leaving the house, shopping, or running errands becomes a logistical and physical challenge. Years of illness and intensive treatment have significantly weakened her body, and the lack of constant support exacerbates her feelings of helplessness.
"There are days when I don't have the strength to go shopping. I put everything off, hoping that tomorrow will be easier."
In this experience of loneliness, small, quiet gestures of presence were particularly important. In 2023, during seven and a half weeks of intensive treatment, Jadwiga's friends took care of her cat. This may seem like a small thing, but for her it was an important sign that someone remembered her, cared for her, and watched over her while she had to focus solely on surviving each day.
Comorbidities
In addition to cervical cancer, Jadwiga also struggles with other serious conditions. In the past, she underwent treatment for thyroid cancer, suffers from hypertension and hypothyroidism, and experiences drug-induced disorders. Each subsequent oncological therapy puts additional strain on her body, which has been functioning at the limit of its capacity for years.
Moments of respite
When her health allows, Jadwiga engages in quiet, peaceful activities. Crocheting gives her a moment of focus and respite. Gardening and photography, which once brought her joy and a sense of normality, are now just memories of better days and a faint hope that she will return to them someday.
Support needed
The funds raised will be used to cover ongoing medical and daily living expenses. They will help during periods of greatest weakness after chemotherapy, cover shopping, transportation to medical appointments and follow-up visits, and other expenses that cannot be postponed or avoided.
