The Attack That Changed Everything
It all began suddenly, in late April 2026, when Michał had an epileptic seizure while at work. He was taken to the hospital, where, after a series of tests, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Further tests and a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis: glioblastoma, the most malignant form of brain cancer. For Michał and his entire family, it was a blow straight to the heart.
The Fight for Proper Treatment
The early stages of treatment were not easy, and the family, unwilling to wait, began seeking help on their own. Their efforts led them to one of Poland’s leading specialists in brain tumor surgery, who immediately took charge of the situation. Thanks to this, Michał was admitted to the 10th Military Hospital in Bydgoszcz, where he underwent surgery for partial tumor removal in early June 2026. He began to recover after the procedure, but a few weeks later, another seizure forced him to return to the hospital urgently. The doctors did a wonderful job, as Michał’s condition was serious and the seizure persisted for several days, but they managed to stabilize him with medication, and he returned home for a week.
The Next Stage in the Fight for Life
Today, July 14, 2026, Michał is beginning the next phase of his treatment, following the Stupp protocol, which involves concurrent radiation and chemotherapy lasting 6 weeks. After this phase, Michał will undergo chemotherapy lasting from 6 to as many as 12 months. It’s a difficult time, but Michał isn’t giving up—he simply wants to live so badly.
A family that sticks together
Michał is the pillar of his family—the breadwinner who has always made everyone feel safe. Whenever help was needed, no matter what the issue, everyone could count on him. His illness has changed the lives of his entire family—a close-knit group of nearly twenty people—who have rallied to help him. His loved ones describe him as a man who, even now, shows no fear; he smiles and cares for others, even though he is the one who needs care the most. His illness has robbed him of the normal life he so desperately wants to return to—a life he will fight for until the very end, together with his family.
A person who can't sit still
What best defines Michał is his energy. He is an extremely active person, and cars—from classics to the latest models—are his passion; he prefers to spend his free time in the garage, repairing cars for his family and friends. He also loves physical activities such as biking and soccer, as well as gardening and DIY projects. When there’s something he can’t do, he reads and learns until he achieves his goal. For someone so active, one of the hardest challenges is being forced to stay still. This shows just how much Michał wants to return to a life full of movement, passion, and activity.
Let's help Michał buy some time
Faced with glioblastoma multiforme—such a difficult opponent—Michał’s family wants to do everything they can to ensure he receives the best possible treatment. The funds raised will be used primarily for therapies that are not covered by insurance, along with the associated costs, and will help give him the time he so desperately needs. To help cover the enormous costs of Michał’s treatment, we ask for the support of all kind-hearted people.
