The stomachache turned out to be the start of a tragedy

In October 2025, Milana began complaining of abdominal pain on her right side. At first, her parents didn’t suspect that these symptoms were a sign of something so serious. Everything changed after an ultrasound. Doctors detected a massive cancerous tumor in her liver. The family was immediately referred to the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk. On December 30, 2025, Milana underwent a very serious operation to remove the tumor. For her parents, it was a moment of immense fear and uncertainty about their daughter’s life. Unfortunately, serious complications arose after the surgery.

More complications and long weeks in the hospital

Following the surgery, it was necessary, among other things, to perform portal vein ballooning due to thrombosis and to implant a stent. Further complications also arose—a postoperative biloma and the need to insert drains into the pleural and peritoneal cavities. Due to her extremely critical condition, doctors were unable to start chemotherapy immediately. For nearly two months, the family lived in immense anxiety, waiting for the opportunity to begin further treatment. Chemotherapy did not begin until February 26, 2026. Milana has already undergone four very grueling cycles of treatment. The girl’s body is reacting extremely poorly, with high fevers, vomiting, painful mouth sores, diarrhea, and pulmonary fungal infection. Despite her immense suffering, treatment must continue.

The hospital became a second home

Since December 18, 2025, Milana has been in the hospital practically all the time. That is where her childhood is unfolding today. Her mom watches over her daughter almost nonstop. Her dad comes to relieve her, but at home, their 10-year-old daughter Daria is waiting, and she, too, is deeply affected by her sister’s illness. The girl misses her, cries, and is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with daily life and school. Milana’s illness has affected the entire family. Her father had to quit his job to support his loved ones. Today, her parents are simply trying to get through this incredibly difficult time together.

Milana really wants to get back to normal

Despite her illness, Milana remains a sensitive and dreamy little girl. She loves to sing, dance, draw, and play the piano. She loves volleyball, learning languages, and everything related to Italy. She also dreams of having her own Maltipoo puppy. Her parents are doing everything they can to ensure that, despite her daily life in the hospital, she doesn’t lose her childlike joy and hope.
