This was supposed to be life after the illness
It seemed as though the hardest battle was behind Oliwka. Unfortunately, life after her illness turned out to be another very challenging phase. Although her treatment is over, its effects are still very much a part of Oliwka’s daily life and that of her entire family. The pain comes back every day
Oliwka suffers from stomach pain every day. It’s very hard to watch a child suffer when she should just be playing, laughing, and enjoying her childhood. Instead, the past few months have brought more tests, hospitals, and more needle pricks. The results showed inflammation of the intestines. Oliwka now faces a colonoscopy. It’s another test, more stress, and yet another wait for answers.![]()
Eating has become a struggle
Oliwka also struggles with feeding difficulties. After consulting with a specialist, the family received a diagnosis and is now beginning intensive therapy. What comes naturally to other children has become a huge challenge for Oliwka. Every meal brings stress, tension, and tears. Now, daily, patient work is needed so she can learn to eat all over again.A long road to a more peaceful daily life
Oliwka is also undergoing sensory integration therapy. Her family is doing everything they can to help her, but it’s a long and challenging journey. It was necessary to remove a section of her lung for histopathological examination. Ultimately, it was confirmed that the changes were inflammatory in nature, not cancerous. May 26, 2026

Fighting from the first breath
The birth of Olive brought her parents joy, emotion and a sense that the most beautiful part of their lives was about to begin. However, the happiness lasted only a few hours. Doctors detected a malignant kidney tumor in the newborn girl's body.
Fear and helplessness replaced the joy of birth in an instant. After only two weeks, Olive received her first chemotherapy.

From that moment on, every day became a struggle for survival. The first year, which was supposed to be a time of celebrating first smiles and chatter, was filled with fighting the disease.
Finally, the long-awaited moment arrived. The intensive treatment came to an end, bringing a feeling of relief. The disease had been defeated. Olive returned home, and her parents were finally able to make up for lost time. With tenderness, they re-learned everyday life: hugging, enjoying every gesture and being grateful for every day spent together.
When joy gives way to fear
Just a few months of calm were enough for life to once again remind us of its unpredictability. Just before Olive's second birthday, an unexpected blow fell on the family in the form of a diagnosed recurrence.
The fight for Olive's life began anew. First, surgical removal of the cancer-ridden kidney was performed. Then treatment with chemotherapy and radiation therapy was included. Again, days merged into weeks, and weeks into months filled with pain and fatigue, while treating with the hope that this time the disease would be gone forever.

In October 2023, Olive's treatment came to an end. Returning home brought relief, but also anxiety. Olive's parents were aware that nothing was "for sure" anymore after oncology. This shadow of the disease had already become a permanent part of the rhythm of their daily life, taking a stronger shape at the time of every three-monthly check-ups, waiting for test results, tension, prayer and tears - those of fear and those of relief.
On behalf of the family, we ask you to support Olive in her post-oncology journey. Rehabilitation, medical consultations and funds for travel between treatment centers are still needed.
