Metastatic lung cancer
Mr. Tomasz was diagnosed with a metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma of the bronchi and lungs—the large-cell type. In September 2024, he underwent a bronchoscopy in Kraków, during which lung tissue samples were taken for histopathological examination. Since then, he has been fighting a very difficult battle to maintain his health and daily functioning. Mr. Tomasz has already undergone 20 cycles of radiation therapy and 13 cycles of chemotherapy. The treatment is very taxing on the body, especially since the cancer is accompanied by other serious medical conditions.
Everyday life full of restrictions
Tomasz struggles with, among other things, a traumatic brain injury, tracheal stenosis, epilepsy, hypertension, and ischemic heart disease. He currently lives at home under the care of his partner and daughter. His illness has robbed him of his independence and the ability to function normally. Tomasz is non-verbal, which further complicates daily interaction and communication. Even the simplest tasks have become major challenges—moving around, traveling to medical appointments in different parts of Poland, or navigating architectural barriers.
The illness robbed him of his sense of security
The cancer has also had a profound impact on Mr. Tomasz’s mental health. He has developed severe depression, a sense of helplessness, and feelings of social isolation. Mr. Tomasz’s partner is unable to work because she spends most of her time caring for him and managing his treatment and daily life.
Help to make your daily struggle easier
The funds raised will be used for rehabilitation, medical transportation, medication, psychological care, and the purchase of necessary orthopedic equipment, including a wheelchair and specialized footwear. This assistance will also help partially address architectural barriers and improve Mr. Tomasz’s daily quality of life. Every bit of support is a huge help to him and his loved ones in their very difficult daily lives.
