Throughout his life, Władysław valued peace and quiet, his daily routines, and the simple things that gave him a sense of normalcy. Working in the garden, doing chores around the house, and spending time with a book were all part of his daily life. Everything changed when he was diagnosed with a serious form of cancer, which sapped his strength and completely transformed his life.
The diagnosis that came suddenly
In May 2024, doctors detected a cancerous lesion in the stomach. Further testing confirmed stomach cancer—an adenocarcinoma requiring immediate treatment. A very difficult battle for her health and life began.
Surgery and extensive treatment
On June 21, 2024, Władysław underwent major surgery to partially remove his stomach. The procedure was necessary to stop the cancer from spreading. After the surgery, he began further treatment, which included radiation therapy and five courses of chemotherapy. The treatment lasted many months and did not end until February 2025.
Although his treatment has ended, Władysław’s body remains very weak. The illness and cancer treatment have taken a heavy toll on his health and left him physically exhausted. He now needs to undergo regular checkups every six months.
Everyday life has become a huge struggle
The biggest challenge for Władysław today is performing basic daily activities. Even eating meals and exerting minimal effort require a tremendous amount of strength on his part. Compounding the difficulty are his comorbid conditions—atrial fibrillation and hypertension—which make it even harder for him to function on a daily basis.
The illness also had a significant impact on his emotional and social life. Władysław became more withdrawn and limited his interactions with others, as his body no longer allows him to function as he used to.
She dreams of a more peaceful daily life
Before his illness, he took great joy in gardening, taking care of the house, and reading books. Today, his main wish is to regain at least some of his strength and be able to go about his daily life with greater ease.
Cancer has robbed him of his health, energy, and sense of security, but despite his extreme weakness, he continues to fight and refuses to give up. We ask for your support for Władysław. Every bit of help gives him a chance at a more peaceful life after his grueling treatment, further medical testing, and the ability to carry on with daily life in these very difficult circumstances.
