The beginning of the battle

It all started innocently enough, about three years ago. I was getting stomachaches more and more often. On top of that, I started having trouble going to the bathroom. At first, I ignored it. I blamed it all on stress or food poisoning.

However, when the problem persisted for a long time, I made an appointment with a doctor. Then came the tests, consultations with specialists, and visits to other clinics.

The diagnosis came sooner than I expected: colorectal cancer that had metastasized to the liver.

A New Normal

The doctors decided to start long-term chemotherapy. I accepted it without saying a word, but inside, everything came to a standstill.

Then came the daily grind, which offered no respite. Aching bones spread throughout my body. My head throbbed, and my teeth ached. Nausea and exhaustion began to set the pace of my day.

Fear and exhaustion set in, but so did a quiet hope that things would soon return to normal.

Family

I’m currently at my parents’ house. It’s a place I remember from simpler, more ordinary times. My parents are with me all the time. My mom cooks healthy meals, and my dad drives me to appointments with various specialists or to the hospital for my next rounds of chemotherapy.

My siblings call whenever they can. I can hear the worry in their voices, which they try to hide behind everyday topics.

Everyone is worried, and I can feel it. I’m so grateful that I’m not alone in all this, even if loneliness still creeps up on me sometimes.

Small successes

I try to live each day to the fullest and appreciate it, even if it looks completely different from how it used to. Going for a walk has become my daily challenge. Sometimes it’s shorter, sometimes longer, depending on how I feel. When I manage to go for a walk, I feel a quiet sense of satisfaction.

I can't work or overexert myself. My stoma and vascular access port remind me every day of my illness and the limitations it brings.

My passions

My great passion is cars. Sports cars hold a special place in my heart; they still manage to stir up that childlike excitement in me.

Playing video games and listening to good music help me take a break from treatment. These simple things let me forget about my illness for a moment and focus on something lighter.

My son is both my greatest passion and my greatest source of strength. I love watching him train and play volleyball. Those moments on the court mean more to me than anything else.

Request for support

Due to my health condition, I am unable to work. Every day brings expenses that I find difficult to cover on my own: medication, trips to the hospital, special dietary foods, and other basic necessities.

Every bit of support means the world to me and helps me in my daily fight for my health.
