Osteosarcoma! HELP! My daughter Natalia needs your support.

Knee pain

Toward the end of last year, my daughter Natalia started complaining of knee pain. At first, it seemed like nothing serious: overuse, a minor injury, something that would go away on its own. But the pain didn’t go away.

Over time, anxiety set in, followed by more tests and doctor’s visits. Each one was supposed to bring relief, but instead only increased my anxiety.

Finally, we heard the diagnosis that brought our whole world to a halt: osteosarcoma. A tumor in the right tibia that had metastasized to the lungs.

Treatment and next steps

Natalia is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

She now faces another important step: leg surgery and the insertion of a prosthesis, scheduled for July 2026. Chemotherapy is set to continue after that. Unfortunately, complications have arisen during treatment: bilateral focal lesions in the lungs.

Sister and brother

Natalia has an older brother, Kuba, who has cerebral palsy. Their relationship is special.

Kuba loves his sister very much. When Natalia is in the hospital, he often asks about her, and when she comes home, everything changes. A look of joy appears in his eyes—one that speaks louder than any words.

Life in England

Before the illness, our family lived in England. My husband and I worked there, and Natalia went to school there, studied for her exams, and applied to college. Everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly and according to plan. The diagnosis changed everything.

Return to Poland

We decided to return to Poland for the duration of the treatment.

We didn't have a home here, but our family was a huge help. We moved in with my aunt.

These days, our lives consist of trips to Warsaw for chemotherapy. It’s a 135-kilometer one-way journey—a road filled with exhaustion, hope, and silence, a space that holds everything that cannot be put into words.

Horses, trips, and friends

Before her illness, Natalia was a very active teenager. She loved horses. Riding and caring for her own horse were more than just a hobby to her. It was a relationship, a responsibility, and a space where she could truly be herself.

She also loved going on trips with her dad. The wind, the road, and the moments they shared—those are the memories that stay with you for a long time. And then there was the bike, which gave her a sense of freedom, as if the world were always within reach.

At home, I had quieter hobbies: drawing, crafts, and little things created with my hands and imagination. In between all that were my friends: casual get-togethers, conversations, and just hanging out for no particular reason.
