Cancer doesn't let go

In March 2024, Robert underwent his first pneumonia. It seemed to be a simple infection from which the young body would quickly recover. However, just a month later, the disease returned. Another pneumonia turned out to be a worrisome complication that directed doctors' attention to something much more serious - suspected cancer.
In May 2024, the diagnosis was finally made, which was unequivocal: malignant germinal neoplasm with the morphology of yolk follicle tumor in the genetic mutation of yolk follicle tumor monstrosity. The tumor was enormous in size - 21 x 20 x 22 centimeters - and directly threatened the man's life. The decision was immediate: urgent chemotherapy. Doctors said plainly, if the treatment didn't work, the chances of survival were close to zero.

First treatment and hope that lasted too short a time

Robert underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by a series of chemotherapy treatments on the BEP reg imen - four cycles of five days each, with additional weekly infusions. In June 2024, the first ray of hope appeared - the tumor began to shrink, and the lung, hitherto oppressed, began to breathe again. The treatment, however, was devastating.

In August, a blood transfusion became necessary due to anemia. In October, another major operation was performed with a sternum dissection and removal of the residual tumor.
It seemed that it was over, that the disease had subsided and one could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Turnaround - blow two

In the summer of 2025, it all started again. In July, Robert noticed a painful lump on his back. A CT scan check in September confirmed the worst: a relapse. New lesions appeared in the lung, on the pericardial sac and on the back.
Urgent surgery was performed to remove the tumors. Unfortunately, the results confirmed the recurrence of the cancer and the presence of metastases on the bones. In October 2025, another round of chemotherapy was started - this time with the TIP regimen. This is the second battle against the same opponent. More difficult, more painful, because the body is tired and the body bears the scars of previous battles.

A body that remembers pain

As a result of treatment , Robert lost a significant portion of his right lung. Surgery required dissecting the sternum and reinforcing it with screws. Chemotherapy damaged the veins, leaving a permanent mark with each injection.
Every day is a huge test of strength. Fatigue, shortness of breath, weakness and limited dexterity accompany him in the simplest activities, making each one a challenge.
Fortunately, Robert is not alone in all this. His parents are by his side whenever they can, and his fiancée lives with him and helps with daily chores. Their presence gives him a sense of security, which is invaluable in a world where everything else has become shaky.

The disease has taken away Robert's ability to work. He has been incapacitated since April 2024, and his condition requires constant psychological and psychiatric care. When emotions began to squeeze harder than the pain, it was necessary to include drug treatment to prevent him from succumbing to helplessness.
Robert stays at home, but regularly returns to the hospital for more cycles of chemotherapy. The treatment is long and debilitating, and his body is getting weaker and weaker.
Funds from the fundraiser will be used for transportation to the center in Krakow, expensive medications, bone marrow and anticoagulant injections, psychological care, as well as special food to maintain strength when chemotherapy takes away appetite and sleep.
