In October 2025, it all started innocently enough. With a simple cold that was supposed to pass quickly. In November, swollen lymph nodes appeared.

The test results, however, were normal, and my body seemed to be restoring its own balance, giving the impression that this was just a temporary episode. I even had a salivary gland biopsy, which didn’t reveal anything concerning.

In January, however, the doctor noticed something alarming in the test results. To be sure, a bone marrow biopsy was ordered. The results came back soon after: acute myeloid leukemia.

Treatment and transplantation

I’ve completed three rounds of chemotherapy at the hospital in Bydgoszcz. I experienced side effects that constantly reminded me of what my body was going through. Despite that, every day was a step forward. In the meantime, I also participated in clinical trials.

I’m currently at the Institute in Gliwice. This is where the next, very important step is to take place: the transplant. The waiting is quiet, but also tense, because everything is focused on a single goal: to get the hardest part behind me.

Fiancée, family, and friends

I’m currently on sick leave from work. Although I know this is part of my treatment and a necessity, I miss the everyday life that used to be so ordinary. I miss work, the people, my colleagues, casual conversations, laughter, and the routine that gave my days a normal rhythm.

My family has been a huge source of support throughout all of this. They’re there for me and don’t leave me to face difficult times on my own. Their presence gives me a sense of security, which I really need right now.

My beloved fiancée is by my side every day, through thick and thin. She supports me, helps me—she’s just there. Right now, that means more to me than anything else. Thanks to her, it’s easier to get through all of this, one step at a time.

Volleyball, the backyard, and travel

Before I got sick, I played volleyball as an amateur. The practices, the games, the shared excitement—it was more than just a sport. It was getting together with the guys on the team, chatting in the locker room, laughing after a great play, and those moments when everyone felt like they were part of something bigger.

Besides volleyball, I also had my own quiet spot: the garden. Everything slowed down there. Working with the plants gave me peace and a sense that something was growing and thriving, that life was following its natural rhythm.

There were also trips. Discovering new places, changing my perspective, moments when everyday life was left far behind. That gave me a sense of freedom that I miss today.

Please support me

Treatment has become part of my daily life, but it also brings with it very specific challenges that you don’t think about beforehand. Each new stage is not only a strain on the body, but also involves enormous costs.

Thank you very much for your support.
